About the Positions
Public Health is currently recruiting for Contact Tracers, Case Investigators, and Case Managers to join the Communicable Disease team. These positions will identify people who have come into contact with COVID-19 virus through interviews with confirmed and presumptive cases and connect them with local resources. Case Investigators and Contact Tracers prevent further spread of the virus in the community and are central to the public health approach to managing the COVID-19 pandemic. Case Managers connect cases and contacts who need support to programs and services to help them successfully complete isolation or quarantine.
Contact Tracing Specific Roles
- Monitor asymptomatic case contacts daily per investigative guidelines for development of symptoms
- If contacts become symptomatic, COVID-19 Contact Tracing refers case to Case Investigation team for additional information.
- Make ongoing monitoring calls (using a script) to contacts for the duration of the quarantine
Case Investigation Specific Roles;
- Identify possibly outbreaks and liaise with Epidemiologist for outbreak management
Case Management Specific Roles;
- Contact individuals referred to the Care Resource team, assist them with resource navigation such as applying for unemployment, rent or utility assistance and accessing immediate resources needs (food, pharmacy).
About the Division
The Lane County Public Health (LCPH) Communicable Disease section serves to prevent and control the spread of communicable diseases through investigation, providing immunizations, education and treatment.
Schedule: Hours will vary - Minimum work availability of 3 days, 8 hours a day.
Some weekend availability is preferred. This is an in-person position

Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade.
Two years of general clerical and office assistance and/or community services experience.
An equivalent combination of experience and training that will demonstrate the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.
One of the essential functions of this position is to travel within Lane County (occasionally outside of Lane County) to completed scheduled meetings.

- Ability to show empathy to distressed individuals;
- Excellent organizational and communication skills;
- Critical thinking and sound judgment required;
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism and in compliance with federal HIPPA requirements;
- Clear, legible handwriting;
- Proficiency with computers;
- Previous case management experience a plus
- Second or multiple languages a plus.
This position is subject to a full criminal offender information record check. If fingerprinting is required, the fee is paid for by the successful candidate and the expense is non-reimbursable.
