REPORTS TO: __EXEC Director of Employee Services & HR Systems (TEA COVID Test Coordinator)

PAY: $18-20 per hour

DEPARTMENT: Employee Services /Risk Management

PRIMARY PURPOSE: This position will work closely with performing the nasal swab test to employees. The right candidate will have strong work ethic and great customer service.


Minimum Education/Certification:

High School Diploma or equivalent required

College degree or equivalent is a plus

Medical Assistant Certificate or background in medical field is a plus

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Ability to use discretion, maintain confidentiality and ethical conduct

Strong verbal and written communication skills, including active listening, emotional intelligence

Self-directed and able to work with little supervision

Ability to use discretion, maintain confidentiality and ethical conduct

Understanding of epidemiology, occupational health, safety, and/or industrial hygiene preferred

Open availability to work, including early morning, late evenings, and weekends when needed

Proficiency with use of computers (desktop, laptop, tablet)

Proficiency with MS Office 365 (i.e., Outlook, Word)

Bilingual Spanish preferred

Meet HIPAA requirements for the protection of health information and personal identifying information

Minimum Experience:

1+ years of experience with health education, community outreach, linkage to care, social services, or other public health services

Experience conducting telephone-based or in-person interview, data collection and data entry are preferred


Contact Tracing

Initiate prompt communication with employees exposed to COVID-19 (contacts) through text, phone calls, email, and other communication platforms, as necessary.

Employ dynamic communication and interpersonal skills, cultural competency/sensitivity, tactful language, and empathetic interviewing skills to build rapport and maintain trust.

Verify the contact's identity during initial communications and prior to disclosing confidential information. Assure confidentiality and carry out efforts to locate and communicate with employees in a manner that preserves the confidentiality and privacy of all involved.

Utilize a computer, tablet, and/or cell phone with appropriate access to required applications, databases, and/or web-based platforms, daily. Document pertinent information in COVID-19 contact tracing forms while adhering to protocols for completeness, timeliness, and frequency.

Ability to interact in a non-judgmental manner with culturally diverse populations and persons experiencing a wide range of social conditions.

Critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and the ability to use sound judgment in responding to client issues and concerns.

Ability to read and write in English.

Ability to adapt to changing environments and receive constructive feedback.


Greet and screen employees for COVID-19 symptoms in a courteous and professional manner.

Check-in employees for testing and verify information, including, but not limited to demographics.

Assist employees with completing pre-testing paperwork.

Perform nasal swab COVID-19 testing.

Proper handling and disposal of testing materials.

Maintain the cleanliness of the work area.

Must be reliable and dependable.


During times of low volume, assist with various duties in the Human Resources Department.




Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: This position requires wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for long periods of time. This position requires following safety protocol for the collection and disposal of biohazard waste (ex. Covid tests and PPE). The position will require daily use of a computer, telephone, or cell phone, and access to a secure internet connection. This position may require moderate physical effort including lifting materials and equipment of less than 50 pounds and involves viewing a computer screen 50 to 75 percent of the time. The position may require working non-standard hours (i.e., evenings, weekends). While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for long periods of time.

Safety: Contribute to the prevention of accidents and injuries by observing safety rules and District policy, practicing the principles and skills taught in safety training, wearing personal protective equipment as required, reporting injuries and incidences immediately to the supervisor, and being proactive in the ongoing efforts to improve and maintain workplace safety.
